Markets Open in the positive 19-02-09

Market is positive: Eyes on inflation data

The benchmark indices have managed to trade about the line with marginal gain. Lack of specific news in the domestic arena has kept the sentiments low as the intensity of movement is weak. The inflation data to come in a short while has also kept the traders away from taking any fresh positions. The lower volumes of trade is still a major concern for the markets. Among the sectoral indices, the BSE realty index is up by 1.86 per cent and the BSE CD has gained 1.51 per cent. On the other hand, the FMCG index on the BSE has down by 0.31 per cent while the BSE HC index declined by 0.06 per cent. Overall the market breadth is positive as 1067 stocks are trading in green while 657 stocks are in red.

At 11.30 AM, the BSE Sensex up by 46.18 points at 9,061.37 and NSE Nifty surged by 16.8 points at 2,792.95. The BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading higher by 21.61 points and 18.59 points at 2,865.91 and 3,244.66 respectively. 

Gainers from the BSE Sensex Pack are Mahindra & Mahindra up by (3.60 per cent) to Rs. 294.8, along with Wipro Ltd by (3.56 per cent) to Rs. 216.5, Grasim Industries by (2.97 per cent) to Rs. 1381.1, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd by (2.17 per cent) to Rs. 1393.85, Maruti Suzuki by (2.06 per cent) at Rs.630 and DLF by (1.70 per cent) at Rs.161.4.

Gainers from the NSE Nifty Pack are Suzlon Energy Ltd by (4.32 per cent) at Rs.43.5 along with Wipro Ltd by (3.51 per cent) at Rs. 216.55, Mahindra & Mahindra by (3.42 per cent) at Rs. 294.65, Zee Entertainment by (2.99 per cent) at Rs. 115.4 and Grasim Industries by (2.71 per cent) at Rs.1381.

BSE Realty is trading higher by (1.86 per cent) or 27.77 points at 1,519.43. The major gainers are Akruti City trading up by (4.97 per cent) at Rs. 1039.80, along with Housing Dev by (2.78 per cent) at Rs. 81.40, Orbit Co by (2.71 per cent) at Rs.45.55, Omaxe Ltd by (2.03 per cent) at Rs. 45.20, followed by DLF by (1.70 per cent) at Rs.161.4.

BSE Consumer Durables is trading up by (1.51 per cent) or 23.61 points at 1,587.49. The top gainers in the index are Gitanjali GE surged by (3.13 per cent) to Rs.46.20 along with Titan Industries by (1.90 per cent) to Rs. 779.40,Blue Star by (1.88 per cent) to Rs. 138, Rajesh Exports by (0.83 per cent) to Rs. 24.20, Videocon Ind by (0.34 per cent) to Rs. 89.85.
